Undead Labs is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Technical Writer for the Studio. As the Technical Writer for Undead, you’ll collaborate with key stakeholders on all of our projects to champion our documentation culture. Our ideal candidate will be focused on gathering requirements, and creating, teaching, and maintaining a documentation culture and process that provides efficiencies to a wide variety of services within the studio.

Core Responsibilities & Objectives

  • Gather requirements from key stakeholders across project teams and organize Confluence in an easy to grok, easy to update manner.
  • Identify and fill gaps in our documentation by meeting with key departments across the studio to improve their documentation like HR, IT, and project teams.
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture team to organize, templatize, and document the hiring, peer review, onboarding and off-boarding processes.
  • Build and execute on training, tutorials, and other tools to improve the documentation culture at the studio.
  • Focus on creating documentation processes that allow studio members to easily keep design specs, processes, decisions up to date.
  • Review, edit and improve studio documentation and create templates to follow a consistent standard
  • Partner with Discipline Directors to streamline discipline tutorials, training, and documentation.


Core Traits & Experience

  • Passion for video games, developers, and collaborating on efficient processes.
  • 3+ years experience in technical writing, IT, Production, Operations, or a related field.
  • A self-starter with the ability to make progress in the face of ambiguity by being humble, curious, and collaborative.
  • Disciplined at creating and maintaining documentation, standards, and best practices.
  • An ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.


Bonus Traits & Experience

  • Basic understanding of game development.
  • Some familiarity with developer tools like Maya, Unreal, Houdini, Jira, Figma, etc.
  • Basic technical skills or desire to learn basic technical skills and programs: Google Suite, Slack, Confluence, Miro.


Physical Requirements

  • Close vision to monitors and screens, consistently working on computer equipment such as keyboards and monitors, long periods of sitting.
  • Noise levels are low to moderate in the work environment.
