An individual contributor responsible for developing and supporting graphics and rendering technology for our games. As a member of the software engineering team, you will collaborate closely with engineers and technical artists to implement key rendering features and diagnose graphics performance bottlenecks. This is a role that will have a big impact on the visuals of State of Decay 3, a great fit for someone who prioritizes quality in execution and presentation.


Your skills in software engineering, rendering techniques, performance optimization, 3D mathematics and linear algebra will be crucial to your success. As a graphics engineer on the team, you will tackle problems both technical and artistic, and you will be a key contributor to our shared goal of creating an amazing product for our millions of fans.

Core Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Write, maintain and optimize production-quality graphics features.
  • Bring a performance-focused mindset to your work, including an ability to diagnose performance problems in a complex pre-existing code base.
  • Apply your knowledge, critical thinking skills, unique perspective and ideas to the production of our games.


Core Traits and Experience

  • Proficient with C++ and familiar with software development methodologies.
  • Familiar with modern techniques for scenery rendering (such as for landscapes, water, foliage, sky and clouds).
  • Familiar with modern methods of character rendering (such as for hair, fur and skin).
  • Familiar with lighting, shaders, model pipelines, tools and terminology.
  • A self-starter with the ability to make progress in the face of ambiguity by gathering data and performing analysis needed to make and justify decisions.
  • An ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.


Bonus Traits and Experience

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and its rendering systems.
  • Experience with console game development.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Close vision to monitors and screens, consistently working on computer equipment such as keyboards and monitors, long periods of sitting.
  • Noise levels are low to moderate in the work environment.
